Start free. Upgrade when governance gets serious.
The core is source-available and self-hosted. Paid tiers add the commercial licence, dedicated isolated tenancy, and the support and evidence trail that regulated organizations need in production.
Community
Engineering teams proving the fit.
Free to read, run, and self-host for non-production use at any size. Organizations that qualify as a Small Organization under the licence — fewer than 100 employees and contractors, and under $1,000,000 in total revenue in the prior tax year — may also run it in production at no charge. See the LICENSE for the controlling definition.

- Community support
Team
Organizations taking governed memory from a laptop into production.
Team is sold through a short conversation — we scope the deployment before it starts.

On the roadmap
Not shipped — not part of this subscription.

Professional
Organizations governing agent memory under compliance pressure.
Professional is available now. Annual subscription, billed once per year, renews automatically until cancelled.
- Everything in Team
- Dedicated isolated tenant — your own instance, volume, and hostname; per-credential principal binding enforced server-side
- Per-answer evidence — every recall returns a hash-chained audit row and an explain_recall rationale you can re-run
- Priority support with a one-business-day response target (defined in Terms of Service §15.E.4) and security advisories

Regulated organizations with auditors in the room.
Enterprise is scoped by conversation and billed by custom quote.

Questions
Is the core open source?
The core is source-available, not OSI "open source." From version 0.2.0 it is licensed under the Business Source License 1.1: you can read the source, run it locally, develop against it, and evaluate and self-host it for non-production use at no charge — and organizations that qualify as a Small Organization under the licence can run it in production at no charge too. The licence defines a Small Organization as fewer than 100 total individuals working as employees and independent contractors, and less than $1,000,000 USD in total revenue in the prior tax year (adjusted for inflation from 2019), counted across your company together with any organizations under common control with it. The LICENSE file is controlling and this is a summary of it. Larger organizations need a commercial license for production use. Each release becomes Apache-2.0 licensed four years after it ships. (Versions 0.1.0–0.1.2 remain MIT-licensed and always will.)
Where does my data live?
That depends on how you run it, and the distinction matters. Run Heartwood embedded — the Community core, and Team if you host the gateway yourself — and it runs in your environment beside your systems of record, and your memory content stays there. Run it on infrastructure we operate — the hosted Team recall gateway, or the dedicated tenant included with Professional (your own instance, volume, and hostname, isolated from every other tenant) — and your memory content is stored on our infrastructure and served back to your application over an authenticated connection. Heartwood is not zero-knowledge in either configuration: where we operate the service, we can decrypt and serve your memory content, and that is precisely what makes policy enforcement and the audit trail possible. Enterprise scopes self-hosted and air-gapped deployment with you.
How is this billed?
Professional is available now and you can buy it from this page: $6,000 per year, per organization, billed once per year through Edukas Solutions. It is an annual subscription and it renews automatically each year until you cancel. You confirm those terms before you reach the payment page, and no charge is taken until you do; you can cancel at any time by emailing support@edukassolutions.com, and cancellation stops future charges. Subscriptions are currently offered to organizations in the United States only. Team and Enterprise are not sold from this page: both are scoped through a short conversation and quoted for your organization.
What do paid tiers actually add?
Team adds the production recall gateway, a supported production deployment configuration, a commercial-use license for production, and email support. Professional adds a dedicated isolated tenant — your own instance, volume, and hostname, with per-credential principal binding enforced server-side — plus per-answer evidence, where every recall returns a hash-chained audit row and an explain_recall rationale you can re-run, and priority support with a one-business-day response target and security advisories. Enterprise adds self-hosted and air-gapped deployment scoped with you, plus custom framework adapters and audit consulting. Anything listed under "On the roadmap" beneath a tier is not shipped and is not part of that subscription.
